Green Drakes
Green drakes are a large mayfly that gets fly fishermen excited, and for good reason.
These guys are huge! Naturals range from size 8-12!
The nymphs of this insect are very strong clingers and can hold on in very heavy currents.
When they get close to maturity though, they can be found crawling around the stream
bottom looking for a more suitable location to emerge. As they begin this migration,
they can slip and find themselves as fish food!

The emerging period can range from late May to July.
The availability of such a large food source is hard for trout to ignore and can trigger aggressive strikes.
Recommended Flies:  Prince Nymph, Yellow/Green Hot Wire Prince
