Green Rock Worm Larva

Sizes - 14-16

Green rock worms are a predacious group of uncased caddis that inhabit riffle sections of streams. They require the high oxygen content that is found in these sections and feed on the abundance of bug life found there.

Their need to hunt prey means that they are constantly moving, and living in fast moving water means that they can be found in the drift, available to hungry trout. Fish will lie in wait below a riffle, and key in on the bright green color of this insect. The same is true of trout that move up into the riffle sections to feed.
